Our Story
Second Saturday Magazine is a radio show on WPKN hosted by Bob Johnson. It airs on the second Saturday of every month. The show usually includes interviews with authors and live performances by local musicians.
With theaters shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic, Second Saturday Magazine wanted to bring the storytelling we love to people's homes. We create radio dramas with purpose. We tell entertaining stories and promote charitable causes to aid the world through this difficult time.

War of the Worlds by H.G. WellsWar of the Worlds was our first radio show. We promoted Meals on Wheels in Central Connecticut to help feed people in need.

Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton TrumboJohnny Got His Gun was our second radio drama. It deals with the sensitive issue of veteran post-traumatic stress disorder. We promoted #22ADay to raise awareness for the 22 veteran suicides that occur daily in the United States.

Dawn Speaks was a remount of her spoken-word performance. It was followed by a conversation from the founder of GotToStop. The performance raised awareness for GotToStop and CSWAC.org. This production which shows us the story of fighting for an immigrant to be admitted into America right before World War II will ask many pivotal questions such as "How do we as Americans best pay attention to immigration rights?"
